GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL

1     City Council Minutes and committee meetings

The City Council’s committees meet regularly and the Council diary contains lists of these in advance.     The Council also publishes minutes of past meetings in book form at regular intervals but most often the entry is uninformative and merely records facts such as “A report by the Director was submitted and approved by the committee”.

The Council’s website contains copies of all the reports needed by councillors at these meetings, but finding them can be difficult.      Click on the following link, enter the committee name and the date of the meeting (obtained from the diary or the published minutes) and then follow the onscreen links.

http://www.glasgowcitycouncil.co.uk/committee_minutes/public/councildiary.asp

If you have difficulty with this, here are a few more detailed pointers.

1                    Enter the committee name and the date of the meeting then click “search meeting”

2                    On the next screen, the left column shows the meeting on the selected date, click on it.

3                    The next sceen shows the council crest above the heading for the meeting and in a panel above the crest are several reports relevant to that meeting.   To obtain further relevant reports, click on the box “more documents” until the required report appears.

4                    Click on the selected report.

SCHOOLS

1     Jordanhill School

The school lies in the heart of the community and has a unique status.   It is funded by a direct grant from the Scottish Executive, and is neither a local authority school, nor is it a private or independent school.    No fees are paid, and there is no academic selection of pupils.

It provides both primary and secondary education and the majority of parents within the area attempt to send their children to the school which has a large waiting list.
