local crimes for the last month but there was no information on success
rate. 5 thefts, 1 attempted
housebreaking, 2 thefts from motor vehicles, 1 assault, 2 breach of the peace,
6 vandalisms, 1 “culpable and reckless” (no details), 3 road traffic offences and
1 Emergency Workers Act (such as an assault on firemen etc. but no details).

current police campaign to stamp out the sale of alcohol to minors. He requested members to inform him of any
suspicions about local supermarkets and local shops which might be guilty
of this,
3 CORRESPONDENCE AND MATTERS ARISING
3.1 Annual Grant.
A cheque for £476.05 had
been received, but this included a deduction of £75 for insurance cover under
the GCC scheme. SM contacted CCRC and
pointed out we had left the scheme last year and we were now insured with the
ASCC. Following various check emails
to confirm ASCC cover will continue, and a formal letter from JCC explaining
the situation, GCC agreed to process a refund of the deduction in due course.
3.2 Jordanhill Campus
Michael Hagan has taken
over from Val Hunter at SU Estates and will now be progressing the sale of the
campus. Meetings have been held with
GCC Planning Officials and Mr Hagan proposes to meet SM shortly to update JCC.
3.3 Householders Permitted Development
Rights.
SM reported he had
discovered the existence of a Draft final Statutory Order on this subject had
been circulated in January to a very select group. No information had been released to the public, but under Freedom
of Information Act, SM requested and received a copy of the new document. The content differs from the proposals
contained in the consultation document issued in December 2008.
SM has been in touch with
Bill Butler about this and enquiries are ongoing. Members suggested JCC should write to John Swinney complaining
about the underhand manner in which this latest twist in the process has been
handled.
3.4 Closure of Special Needs School.
An e-mail had been
received from Blairdardie and Old Drumchapel CC chairman informing us of
problems following the closure (due to fire damage) of St Joan of Arc Secondary School. It appears that local children are
now sent by taxi to Tollcross.
Agreed that JCC should write suggesting a more local solution
3.5 Planning applications
109 - 111 Munro Road,
two storey rear extensions
85 Balshagray Avenue,
single storey rear extension and decking.
52 Essex Drive, two storey extension
43 Southbrae Drive,
single storey rear extension.
3.6 Fossil Grove
SM had attended a meeting
on site on 5 February organised by a geological group who are keen to protect
and upgrade this facility. This
coincides with efforts by Friends of Victoria Park. Councillor Jean McFadden was present as a trustee of a Trust
Fund for the Grove but no information is available on the current state of that
fund.
3.7 Friends of Victoria Park
Robert Mellish and SM
attended a meeting on 8 February to hear a presentation by parks officials on
the proposals to remove whitebeam trees.
RM has joined a working party on the group.
