City Council Constitution, the current chairman
had to step down after having served two years in office. He called for nominations for chairman.

by Stuart McLean and seconded by Robin Miller.
In the absence of any other nominations IA was elected and took the chair

sought for the other three positions and in the absence of other nominations
each was elected.

seconded Robin Miller
Treasurer
Robin Miller was proposed by Jack Gaw and seconded by Mary Wilson
Secretary Stuart McLean was proposed by Jack
Gaw and seconded by David Brown
4 Police Report
Constable Ash is on holiday
but Jean Brown gave a brief resume of her recent telephone conversation with
the police office which indicated a low level of recent local crime. However there appears to have been a recent
spate of bogus callers and a press release about this may be produced.
5 MATTERS ARISING
5.1 Campus plan SM reported that he had telephoned an
SU official today and it appears that the report is not yet finalised. The proposed public exhibition is now
likely to be mid November and the whole report may be put on the web.
5.2 Core paths SM has written to GCC as agreed
5.3 Private lanes SM has written to Land Services but no
reply to date.
5.4 Knightswood Bus Garage advert. Following a series of correspondence
with the developer and Trading Standards Officers, SM was pleased to report
that the web site for the new development now states “Perfectly placed close to
the desirable residential district of Jordanhill”
5.5 Blocked drains in lanes Councillor McLean has written to us to
confirm he has raised the matter as requested.
6 COUNCILLOR AILEEN
COLLERAN
Councillor Colleran
arrived at this point, following her attendance at one of her surgeries..
The chairman welcomed her
and invited her to explain her proposed involvement with JCC. She confirmed that she and Councillors
Clay and McLean had agreed a rota and this would result in one or two of them
attending each meeting. Councillor
Mason has declined to be involved in any rota. She then took an active part in the following discussions
6.1 Recycling. She confirmed it was still the intention
of GCC to extend recycling collections to all Jordanhill. She had toured many of the problem lanes
with a cleansing official and it is hoped to have small vehicles available
before the end of the financial year.
She will investigate a report that Dawsholm is to close for 3 months
during refurbishment and try to arrange alternative dumping arrangements.
6.2 Crow Road Traffic
Signals. Following the recent installations
of signals at Whitingehame Drive as demanded by Claythorn CC, Jordanhill has
experienced increasing volumes of rat-running traffic seeking to avoid the
delays due to northbound right turning traffic. SM has learned that Land Services were given a technical report advising
against the installation of signals and advising the closure of Shelley Road
Hospital gate but officials appear to have ignored that advice. AC agreed to obtain any such report to save
JCC the trouble of using FOI for that purpose.
6.3 New Web Site SM suggested that JCC should
consider setting up a web site again and this was approved. Any extra costs could be covered by a
grant application to the Resource Centre.
AC felt all CCs should have web sites but SM confirmed that GCC does not
give any technical help or advice. AC
undertook to look into setting up a possible seminar on the subject to help
other communities.
6.4 Parking restrictions. AC agreed that Jordanhill might
experience overspill parking problems if restrictions were introduced in
adjacent areas. However she feels
that some of the recent schemes have been badly promoted without discussion with residents and would insist on
full consultation.
6.5 Jordanhill Campus She had been briefed on the SU proposals
and understood that JCC had been involved in recent discussions. She confirmed her determination that the
green spaces would be preserved.
6.6 Planning objections Members expressed their concerns
that the objections of local residents and JCC appear to be ignored in
too many cases. With respect
to the report by Christopher Mason that applications with only one or two
objections would now be decided by officials,
AC confirmed that objections by statutory consultees such as JCC would
lead to a committee hearing.
