Minutes of Jordanhill
Community Council Meeting
held on Monday 1
September 2008 in Jordanhill Church Hall.
Present Ian
Anderson (chair), Catherine Benton, David Brown, Jean Brown, Jack Gaw, Maria
Hope, Stuart McLean, and Robert Mellish
Constable
Craig Feroz attended for the first part of the meeting.
Councillors Clay and Mclean. Councillor Mason for part of meeting.
1 member of the public.
Apologies from Robin Miller and Mary Wilson
1 Adoption of previous minutes.
Approval of the minutes
of 2 June was proposed by Jean Brown
and seconded by Jack Gaw.
2 Police Report
Constable Feroz attended
to inform members that there has been a total reshuffle of duties and the post
of community officer has been removed.
The community will now be served by a team of around 12 officers for our
whole ward with no continuity. This
is as a result of decisions by the new chief constable. Members expressed their dissatisfaction.
The matter of GCSS was
raised again and it appears that these “officials” will now take more part in
various local matters such as litter, vandalism etc. Members still wish GCSS officials to visit us, but this will
not be arranged until after our next meeting due to the election of all members
on that date. The constable left at
this point.
Jean Brown read from statistics for July and August
supplied to her as under.
4 pedal cycles stolen, 4
housebreakings, 4 vandalisms, 1 fraud, 3 thefts, 1 communications act, 1 theft
from a motor vehicle. No information
on levels of detection.
3 Campus report
SM reported that he had
been in touch with SU officials and last week he had received a reply to our
letter to them dated 10 May concerning the Campus Report.
The main points from the
reply include: confirmation that there
will be an application for Preliminary Planning Permission (PPP) which will
give residents the opportunity to submit objections; JCC will be represented on the Trust to be set up to manage the playing
fields; the Trust document is currently
in draft with lawyers; the campus
site will not be offered to developers until next spring at the earliest due to
the current downturn in the housing market.
SU also confirmed that
their Campus Plan report was considered at a recent meeting of GCC Councillors but it was merely noted.
4 Elections
All members had received
nomination papers direct
from CCRC and SM had been sent a supply for any local residents who might wish
to apply. All current members have
to resign after this meeting. At
the next meeting,. a returning officer will attend and take charge of
proceedings. If more than 14
nominations have been received there will have to be an election.
SM reported that Dr Irene
Duke who attended our June
meeting and a member of the public (but could not attend this evening) has
expressed her intention to join.
5 ASSOCIATION OF SCOTTISH COMMUNITY
COUNCILS
SM
will
represent JCC at the 2008 conference on 13 September. This may lead to a resolution of the worth of joining
ASCC. At present we pay GCC a
premium for our insurance, but it appears it may be more economical to pay ASCC
membership and take advantage of their block policy.
6 BLUE BINS
Blue bins have now been
delivered to local terrace houses at last following the purchase by GCC of
suitable collection vehicles. However
there was disatisfaction with the notification by means of an old leaflet which
is designed for properties with kerb-side collection.
SM reported he had tried
to contact officials at GCC but was put through to a contact department which
refused to divulge names or direct numbers for appropriate officials. This was not considered acceptable and
our councillors agreed that this must be looked into. SM contacted Councillor Mason about the matter and he undertook to act.
