.

3          Police Report

3.1       No police officers attended and no reports had been received..

3.2       The chairman had discussed the problem of the tow truck with the police but it appears that no action can be taken.

4          INSURANCE

4.1       Alec Hewitson  from  the Resource Centre wrote to say he proposed to attend this meeting and would explain developments regarding insurance.      However SM received an e-mail today with apologies.   SM obtained a resume of the situation.

4.2       For over a year the City Council has considered the transfer of insurance for all Community Councils to the ASCC scheme which we joined last year.     However after a detailed audit by specialists, it has been confirmed that the City Council’s present insurance cover is superior to that of ASCC and consequently no change is proposed.   The alleged advantage of cover under the ASCC for defamation is not verified.

4.3       ASCC eventually sorted out their problems and sent us renewal forms, but SM has taken no action pending discussion at this meeting.

4.4       All things considered, it is agreed that we should return to the City Council insurance scheme and SM will contact the Resource Centre for immediate cover.

6          MATTERS ARISING

6.1       College Campus

The demolition of the groundsman's house in the College Campus has not yet been carried out.  SM contacted SU and it appears that relevant notification had not been given to the City Council.

There have been no other developments but it is anticipated that further activity to promote the redevelopment of the campus will shortly take place.      This may include exhibitions etc.

6.2       Householders Permitted Development Rights.

SM contacted the Department for an update and discovered that the draft final scheme has now been sent back for further redrafting following adverse comments from the specialist consultees.    The public are not involved now.

6.3       Skaterigg Play Park.

This was reopened on 1 May and is well equipped.

6.4       Road resurfacing.

The anticipated resurfacing of Seggilea Road has not yet taken place.

6.5       Victoria Park.

A public consultation on the future use of the park will be held on 5/6 June.

A Trust Fund for the Fossil Grove has been located with over £200,000 available.     The current list of Trustees is being revised.

The Fossil Grove is currently open to the public daily, which is a great improvement on the situation which existed last year.

7          AOCB

It was reported that renovations are under way to the Church of Scotland hostel in Westland Drive and it is understood that it is to be used as a rehab centre.     Although this is not in our area, it could affect South Jordanhill and more information is to be obtained.

There was a brief discussion on a JCC Newsletter, but it was agreed that since we no longer organise events (such as fun runs, garden competitions etc.) there is little need and the Website is now well established.

8          NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be on Monday 7 June 2010 in Jordanhill Church Hall at 7.15 p.m.
