3 College update
3.1 It is confirmed that the projected date
for leaving the campus has been put on hold due to the current difficulty of
funding Construction of the new
buildings in town is also to be put on hold meantime.
3.2 Dr Nelson, a researcher from SU has been
in contact with SM regarding a study called “Smart Move?” A team from the Jordanhill campus
wishes to obtain the opinions of local people regarding the effect the move (of
the campus away from Jordanhill) will have on the community. Following discussion a date of 23 February was suggested for
members to meet with 2 researchers at 8 Borden Road. SM to confirm arrangements and notify members.
4 Householders Permitted Development Rights.(HPDR)
4.1 SM distributed copies of a briefing note
he had prepared following research on the Scottish Government’s consultation
paper on Householders Permitted Development Rights.
4.2 SM has had discussions with Bill Butler
and Sandra White, senior planning
officers from Glasgow City Council,
the Resource Centre, adjoining
community councils and Councillor Colleran.
He has also had emails to and from Bill Aitken. Bill Butler and Sandra White have
both promised action and to report back.
4.3 The consensus is that if the proposals in
this consultation document were to be introduced throughout the country, they
would lead to neighbour quarrels,
problems for planning officers and many unsightly extensions and porches
being erected.
4.4 Members approved SM’s intention to
continue to research and campaign against these proposals and confirmed that he
should again try to involve ASCC (SM stated that he had already tried to
contact the secretary of ASCC).
4.5 Jean Brown reported that she and David
Brown had met Bill Butler at one of his surgeries to discuss this matter.
4.6 Councillor Colleran had telephoned SM
