3 College Campus
Exhibition
3.1 SM reported he had prepared a letter of
complaint to SU regarding the exhibition and discussed it with the chairman
before sending it off. Copies were
sent to our 4 city councillors, the Rector of Jordanhill School and the
planning officer dealing with the campus.
3.2 The points raised included (a) poor
content of the exhibition (b) no copies of the report available (c) no record
of those attending, (d) JCC had not received documents for study (e) no printed copies of report available
anywhere before or after the exhibition
(f) no details of any Trust for retaining the playing fields (g)
no information about schooling places for children of new residents (h)
no details of drainage arrangements and
(i) no tree survey information.
3.3 There was a feeling the SU were rushing
through the consultation phase, but Councillor Mason did not agree and
supported SU in their alleged openness.
3.4 Members approved the action taken in
writing to SU.
3.5 SU have acknowledged receipt and will
reply fully in due course after consideration and meeting the city planners.
3.6 Councillor Colleran has supported JCC by
writing to SU after having received complaints from other local residents. Councillor Clay confirmed that he has also
supported JCC in writing.
3.7 Depending on any reply from SU, there is
a suggestion that JCC should issue its own newsletter highlighting all
important matters and perhaps arranging a further exhibition later in the year
when all documents will be displayed.

5 Matters Arising
5.1 .Reply from Land Services re junction at
Westland Drive/Danes Drive is not considered acceptable. The Director stated that crossing
facilities are not justified based on a traffic and pedestrian survey carried
out in July 2006 (i.e. when schools were on holiday). SM instructed to write seeking new surveys and additional details
5.2 CM informed members he had objected to
the renewal of the trader’s licence on Westland Drive outside St. Thomas
Aquinas School. The headteacher
supports his objection on the basis that despite GCC having a healthy eating
policy it permits junk food retailers outside schools.
5.3 SM tried to obtain factual details of the
activities by GCSS officers in
Jordanhill over recent months but got nowhere. Officers have offered to attend a future meeting of JCC.
Officers have visited Knightswood and St. Thomas Aquinas Schools to speak to
pupils and to inform them that these council officials have powers to issue
fixed penalty fines of £50 for dropping litter. There is some concern about hefty fines being issued by
persons other than police officers.
5.4 On the above topic, residents adjoining
St. Thomas Aquinas School have been given questionnaires on their views about
litter in the area etc. Copy document
supplied by Robert Mellish for JCC consideration ( along with his apologies)
5.5 Glasgow Core Plan document still shows a
cycle route through Anniesland Cross despite representations made by SM last
year. SM to follow up.
5.6 There is general condemnation of the blue
architectural detail on the new houses in Chamberlain Gate. It was agreed that SM should write to Planning deploring their
decision to permit this dreadful detail.
5.7 SM reported that he had added more
information to the JCC website including interesting details about our MSPs and
MEPs.
5.8 SM read from the latest GCC Minutes which
record the refusal by planners to grant retrospective consent for a patio
development in the garden of one of the new Cala houses.
5.9 The continuing work being carried out at
11 Borden Road without planning consent was discussed. It was agreed that SM should object to the
application when it comes forward and to draw attention to the fact that the
work on the roof was carried out with no regard to Health and Safety.
6 NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held in Jordanhill Church Hall on Monday 7 April 2008 at 7.15 p.m.
