                        Councillor Clay.   .

Apologies from Robert Mellish and Maria Hope..   Belated apologies from Councillors  McLean and Mason

                        .

1          Adoption of previous minutes.

Approval of the minutes of 6 October was proposed by David Brown  and seconded by Catherine Benton..

2          Police Report

2.1       The 2 officers apologised for the lack of any crime statistics.    It appears that in future, figures will be prepared by specialists but there was no indication of timescale.

2.2       Members again expressed their dislike for the new scheme which does not allocate a local community officer.

2.3       SM reported his recent meeting with two patrolling officers on 2 November on the south footway of Anniesland Road who claimed that they covered the northern part of Jordanhill as far south as Munro Road.   They are based in the Drumchapel Office.

2.4       It was agreed that SM should contact Supt. Donaldson of Partick Police Office to discuss our concerns and that we should also write to the Chief Constable with a copy to Bill Aitken, MSP.

3          NON ATTENDANCE OF SPEAKER FROM GCSS

3.1       SM confirmed he had arranged for a speaker from Glasgow Community  & Safety Services and he exhibited a letter confirming this, dated 20 October.      No one appeared.   This also happened at the June meeting..

3.2       SM stated that a team member from the Clean Glasgow Campaign (run by GCSS) who had arranged to visit him at home had failed to turn up that morning.

3.3       SM has arranged for a speaker from GCSS to address the AGM on 1 December on the subject of the Clean Glasgow Campaign and this is confirmed in writing by GCSS.

3.4       Members are not happy with the current record by GCSS and wish to learn more about the control of this new organisation.     There was some discussion with the 2 police officers and Councillor Clay regarding the general view of GCSS..

4          AGM ON 1 DECEMBER

4.1       Despite having written confirmation of the attendance by a speaker from GCSS, members are concerned that a further non attendance would embarrass JCC.   Accordingly it was agreed that the notice of the meeting should include the words “It is hoped to have a speaker.......”

4.2       It was agreed that notices should be placed in the 3 local newsagents, the Anniesland Library, Jordanhill Church and the Bowling Club.   In addition, 200 A5 flyers will be prepared.

5          RETROSPECTIVE PLANNING PERMISSION FOR CALA

5.1       A letter from Planning dated 22 October intimated that the Committee had approved Cala’s retrospective application for steps and gates at 1 - 11 Southbrae Gardens.     JCC had submitted an extensive objection to this work which had been carried out contrary to the approved drawings.

5.2       Councillor Colleran supported our stand against the cavalier attitude of developers and promised to be heard by the committee.    However the latest GCC printed Minutes (Print 4) recorded that consideration had been deferred until Councillor Colleran could be heard.

5.3       SM was unable to get  an update on the matter but it was agreed that he should write to Planning deploring this decision.

5.4       It was also noted that a local resident who had submitted an objection, had received a brief letter dated 22 October telling him that consent had been granted, and informing him that he could find out more details by appearing at the Planning Offices.      This is unacceptable treatment of the public.   Councillor Clay noted these points.

6          PARKING SURVEY

6.1       Results show that Jordanhill residents voted decisively against having parking regulations in our area.   Approximately 43% of households returned their voting papers and the results are given on the JCC website, (News section.)

6.2       In Claythorn the voting was very close so it is expected that further consultations will take place there.
