4          Cala retrospective Planning Application

SM reported that the opportunity to examine and comment on aspects of Cala’s development had now been received from the Director of Planning.       Following receipt of copy correspondence from local residents and having met to discuss the matter, he had drafted a letter of objection which was read to members.     Photographs of the problem area were also circulated.   The letter was approved and will be sent immediately.

5          Councillor Mason

CM arrived at this point.

5.1       CM has received a letter from Strathclyde University regarding their Stage 2 Campus Plan to be exhibited in September.      Apart from this he has had no involvement in the discussions or arrangements.

5.2       He has noted the recent problems with the Crow Road signals and has undertaken to contact Land Services if problems continue.

5.3       He is aware of recent problems between pupils of Jordanhill and St Thomas Aquinas.   However he is satisfied that the management teams from both schools are addressing the matter.

5.4       He is aware of the possible opening of a convenience store opening in the premises currently occupied by the Chiropractic in Anniesland Road but could not advise on whether a change of use permission would be required.

5.5       There is no news of a speed hump outside Jordanhill School gates.

5.6       CM confirmed he proposed to continue to attend our meetings, but perhaps on alternative months since he intends to serve Thornwood CC which also meets on the first Monday of each month.      He has not yet met with the other 3 councillors who have been elected to serve our ward.     It is not yet clear how we might use the other councillors.      SM confirmed that we have had no contact with the other three to date since the election.

5.7       SM gave CM a copy of the draft letter to Cala (approved earlier, see above) and he proposes to back our objection.

5.8       CM reported that a resident in Hallydown Drive had contacted him regarding the construction, by Cala, of a play park behind his new home.    (SM had also been contacted)   Prior to purchase he had checked with the Planning Department who assured him there were no proposed works.        CM cited this as another example of planning officials being empowered undemocratically to make changes to schemes without reference to local residents or permitting formal objection.    CM proposes to raise this general matter with the new Convenor of Planning.

Councillor Mason left at this point.

6          AOCB

6.1       SM reported that he had contacted Land Services about the marks at the corners of Woodend Drive and Chamberlain Road and was informed that they are for bollards designed to prevent inconsiderate parents parking on these corners.

6.2       A cheque for £225 will be sent to Jordanhill Church in respect of 9 meetings held during the year (the April meeting was held in 8 Borden Road)

7          .NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Monday 3 September 2007 at 7.15 p.m. in Jordanhill Church Hall.
