ice cream van trading outside Jordanhill
and Knightswood Schools outwith the terms of his licence..

this point.
3 College Campus
Exhibition
3.1 SM reported on the delivery of the
leaflets produced by Strathclyde University.
Jordanhill sixth-year pupils had undertaken this task but delivery was
patchy until 28 January and the meeting
heard that at least 3 areas had not yet received copies. This is embarrassing and it was left to
SM to contact the Rector to complain and to discuss what payment would be
appropriate in the circumstances.
3.2 The chairman and SM raised a number of
points arising from an initial study of the report which had been sent to us in advance of the
exhibition. Comments from JCC will
be prepared following the exhibition.
3.3 SM drew attention to the proposed mandatory
limit (imposed by GCC) of one parking space per dwelling plus one visitor space
per four dwellings. The theoretical
object is to limit car ownership and each new house-owner will be supplied with
a “travel pack” listing local bus and train services and suggested cycle
routes. Members were not
convinced.
3.4 SM read brief extracts from a courtesy
copy of a 3 page letter from a local resident to SU regarding the Campus report
which is available online. SM
agreed with all points raised.
3.5 2 members of the public raised concerns
that the large assembly hall (Francis Tombes Hall) within the David Stow
Building might not continue to be available for community use. The chairman
explained that the report recommended its continued use, but it is up to local
residents, Jordanhill School and any other interested parties to make
representations. However the report is
not even an outline planning document so there is no mechanism for objecting to
any content at this stage. It was
also suggested that the Crawfurd Theatre be retained for community use.rather
than being demolished.
4 CORRESPONDENCE

delays in issue of the consultation by Land Services to Claythorn and Broomhill

5 Matters Arising
5.1 Amplifier equipment. SM had spoken to the Rector of Jordanhill
School and to a representative of Jordanhill Church but neither wanted the
equipment. The next offer was to 178 Scouts and it was
gratefully accepted with an immediate use for concert rehearsals.
5.2 High School roof. SM reported he had spoken to the
bursar. The final roof covering will
be grey slates. Planning consent was
granted in November 2006.
5.3 Speed table outside Jordanhill
School. This matter was again raised
with Cllr Mason. Other local areas
have been successful in having speed reducing measures installed recently.
5.4 Indian Summer. Cllr Colleran reported that it is highly unlikely that the
event will be held in Victoria Park again.
She has had discussions with officials and Glasgow Green is being
proposed.
5.5 Cala planning consent breach. Cllr Colleran has spoken to the officer who
apologised for not having dealt with the matter. He proposes to prepare a report to committee likely to recommend
retrospective consent. This led to
dissent and discussion. It is important
that developers are brought to heel, otherwise they will continue to flout
conditions. With the next large
housing development in prospect it is imperative that matters such as tree
retention and planting conditions are rigidly enforced. Cllr Colleran agreed to follow up.
5.6 Article in Extra. SM had been contacted by a reporter about
developments in Jordanhill School and his response was quoted verbatim in the
edition of 31 January.
5.7 No reply from LS. SM reported that no reply had been
received to a letter to LS dated 13 December regarding the junction of Westland
Drive and Danes Drive. Cllr Mason
agreed to chase up reply and requested copy of original to be sent to him
5.8 SM reported he had attended a meeting of
Glasgow Community Planning Ltd on 16 January but was unimpressed by this
organisation. Its objectives are
not clear.
5.9 SM read from GCC Minutes, (page 583 Item
4) which records the introduction of fines for vehicles idling outside
schools. It was suggested that the
ice cream van might be guilty of this practice.
6 NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be
held in Jordanhill Church Hall on Monday 3 March 2008 at 7.15 p.m.
