of 7 September was proposed by Jean Brown
and seconded by Robert Mellish.
2 Police Report
The officers reported
that there had been 7 crimes in the area in the past month, I assault, 3
vandalisms and 3 thefts. There have
been no detections.
When questioned about their
knowledge of the recent spate of graffiti attacks in the lanes, they confirmed
they had not been involved. Neither
had they heard of the hold-up in the shop on Anniesland Road on Sunday 4
October.
3 Matters Arising
Householders Permitted
Development Rights
SM reported that he had
received an e-mail from Bill Butler who had asked a Parliamentary Question
about progress on the consultation.
Otherwise there is no news.
ASCC membership and
insurance
Further coloured
brochures had been received which confirmed our current membership. We were also sent details of elections for
office bearers who appeared to be simply changing places with each other. Based on our experience of these
officers it was agreed that we should not endorse their election.
Gartnavel Hospital Gate
No developments
Application for HMO at 27
King Edward Road.
SM reported that despite
having received only 5 days formal notice, he had attended a hearing in front
of City Councillors on 30 September and had spoken in support of the 3
objectors who also attended. The
procedure was highly unsatisfactory, with the applicant’s agent permitted to
expound for 15 minutes following the objectors, without a right by objectors to
challenge incorrect statements.
The committee approved a 1 year grant as opposed to the 3 years applied
for and there is a right of appeal.
SM intimated that he proposed to take the whole matter further. Councillor Colleran noted our concerns
about the entire procedure which has been badly handled by officials.
Victoria Park.
SM has written to Land
Services regarding our concerns.
With regard to the bridges, Councillor Colleran stated that the cost of
repairs was very high, but it appears that it may be possible for a new
“Friends of Victoria Park” group to be set up which could apply for Heritage
funding. Whiteinch CC may take the lead
in setting up such a group.
Councillor Colleran
offered to arrange for a speaker from Parks to attend our meeting and it was
agreed that this would be a suitable subject for our AGM on 2 November. Councillor Colleran will liaise with SM.
Speed indicator signs on
Southbrae Drive.
Councillor McLean had
followed this up following the last meeting but had asked incorrectly for 30
mph signs to be provided. Land Services
responded that these were not permitted so Councillor McLean was asked to
pursue the requested “smiley Faces” signs.
Traffic Calming on
Chamberlain Road
SM wrote to Land Services
and copied the letter to our 4 Councillors.
Councillor Mason had immediately e-mailed Land Services to put a hold on
our proposal until he had more facts.
The nibs which he had previously requested have had no effect.
