Minutes of Jordanhill Community Council

held on Monday 7 June 2010 in Jordanhill Church Hall.

1          Adoption of previous minutes.

2          Police Report

 

2.1       The officer supplied a report on the local crimes for May but there was no information on success rate.   1 breach of the peace  5 thefts, 1 robbery, 2 housebreaking, 1 vandalism,  2 breach of bail, 1 “found within premises”

 

2.2       Constable Austen said the police can take no action to remove the low loader (the owner is known to live outside Jordanhill) which is now parked in Munro Road.      She confirmed continued police patrols in the area.   No further developments on the series of break-ins to garages in Chamberlain Road

 

2.3       She distributed copies of a leaflet “Partick West, Community Policing Plan 2010/11”

 

3          MATTERS ARISING

 

3.1       Insurance.    

SM contacted the Resource Centre after the May meeting and arranged for JCC to be covered by the City Council’s standard insurance policy.    No formal notice of this cover has been received to date.

 

3.2       College Campus. 

No developments or contact.

 

3.3       Road Resurfacing.    

Seggilea Road was resurfaced shortly after the May meeting. Councillor Clay asked to be informed of any other roads in the area which require attention.

 

3.4       Victoria Park.     

There have been meetings of the Friends Group, but in the absence of R Mellish there was no report.     Councillor Clay reported that funds had become available but these were earmarked for upgrading the playpark.

 

3.5       Westland Drive Hostel.    

SM reported that the former “Elmbank House” or “Victoria View Orphanage” in Westland Drive had been sold by the Church of Scotland to Thenew Housing Association.     The current single storey buildings to the north and west of the main building are to be renovated and extended to provide a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre for 17 inmates operated by Crossreach (Church of Scotland).    The main building is to be converted into one and two bedroom flats for rental to Scotstoun and Whiteinch Housing Association, two of the flats will be for disabled.

 

 

4          CORRESPONDENCE

From Councillor Colleran,  responding to requests for information on refuse uplifts, glass recycling, etc.,

From CCRC seeking membership details etc. for October elections  (two yearly cycle of membership,   all must stand down and be re-elected at 4 October meeting.

From CCRC announcing Discussion Forum on 5 June.

5          AOCB

It was agreed that JCC should send our annual cheque for £250 to Jordanhill Church for the use of the hall for our 10 meetings.   SM to contact R Mellish.

The next meeting will be on Monday 6 September 2010 in Jordanhill Church Hall at 7.15 p.m.
